Character completely stuck at Halani gates

I'm at the part after the first Jamanra fight where he disappears into the sandstorm. but I cannot progress at all. Portal doesn't work, I click on it and nothing happens, the same thing happens with the checkpoint and the stairs to return to the previous area.

Asala seems to be stuck in a previous zone, as her voice lines are ones from earlier in the level 'Hold them back while I open the gate!'

So far I have tried,

-Spam clicking the portal, checkpoint and stairs.

-Respawning at checkpoint

-creating a new character

-changing renderer

-verifying game files on steam.

None of the above have done anything.

Is there any way I could be manually returned to the Ardura Caravan please?

Weirdly enough as soon as I removed my weapon I could click on the portal fine

Ok, update on this one.

It appears that while I have a weapon equipped I am unable to interact with anything in the level. Items, waypoints, all interactables.

Very strange. If this has been raised and resolved before I cant find anything on it.
