Minor headache: Game delayed startup on system reboot

While a minor problem, this is interesting and irritating.

After a system reboot, the FIRST time I start Path Of Exile it takes two minutes to three minutes or more from the time that the splash screen shows and vanishes until the game starts and shows up on screen.

If I shut the game down, when I start it again it only takes a few seconds. Usually this suggests that some process is running in the background or that some service was started the first time I ran the game, but I can't locate anything.

Any suggestions or ideas?
