There is no need for the server side forced disconnection of a lagging client to be so aggressive
Alright so its there to protect hardcore players, I get that. It also has no reason to exist in this capacity when pause game exists, just force pause instead of force disconnect after 3 seconds, save the disconnect for a minute or more.
"bUt EnCoUnTeRs ExIsT wHeRe YoU cAnT pAuSe" yeah sure just remove the players control over unpausing it when the client is responsive again. Not to mention, this feature, the one that is intended to protect player progress, destroys more player progress than it protects for most players, since it deletes access to loot in areas where one accidental keypress of show loot invariably disconnects you. This is ancient spaghetti code form 15 years ago that does not need to exist. Delete please.. Last bumped on Aug 6, 2025, 11:31:14 PM

Try to change Network mode from Lockstep to Predictable. One day i buyed 5way legion carry, but server constantly disconnect me when fight starts. And guy advised me this hack.
Lockstep (default mode) - when you step on something, you really here. Predictable - when you step on something, you probably here. Sometimes due to lags server backtracks you to position, where you was few seconds ago. It's annoying, but there no DC and less freezes in this mode. In previous leagues i still playing with Lockstep, but in this league i moved to Predictable. And i think the performance is improved overall. I appreciate the advice, but lockstep vs predictive isn't the issue I'm raising.
I'm grousing about the server force disconnecting users too aggressively when the game client is unresponsive. It does the same thing in both network modes (ie lockstep and predictive will both kick you out for unresponsive client if you fatfinger your show loot key on a big pile of stuff, and its pretty normal in the state of the game for enough loot to be on the floor to require 6-7 seconds of cpu time to find and display all the tags correctly), and I really don't see a need for it given 1) all hardcore players are faster on the logout/alt-f4 than the server is anyway, 2) it hinders players more often than it helps them by deleting access to loot when the game client would have recovered, and 3) the game pause function would be a much more appropriate response to the situation most of the time. TL:DR a toggle between current behaviour and a more playable 60 second connection timeout would be very welcome. Last edited by Bigwilleh#1842 on Aug 6, 2025, 1:43:40 AM

If you are disconnecting so much that you needed to write this thread.....it is most certainly not a server-side issue. It is on YOUR side.
Diagnose your own connectivity issues and fix them. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Aug 6, 2025, 3:01:15 AM

Nothing at all to do with my connectivity. You didn't read the post or what its about.
CPU overworking loading big pile of loot on floor -> server kicks client off due to unresponsiveness. Connectivity is diagnosed and fine. Network has nothing to do with it. |

This might sound counterintuitive since you mentioned CPU overload, but have you checked to see if engine multithreading is enabled? Try enabling if it isn't.
