About cold based MTX armours.
Why do the cold based MTX aromours have elements of black and red?
This is the snowcallers, which, granted is from PoE 2, but why so much black for a frost based armour? ![]() Also the hydra armour, hydra references water. Why does it have tones of red and black? ![]() Makes them difficult to style around. Last bumped on Aug 4, 2025, 7:52:39 PM

It would help if, when posting about the appearance of armour sets, you didn't have the camera zoomed out as far as possible when taking the screenshots. Nobody can see the armour.
Here's a screenshot of the Hydra set - I'm not seeing what you're referring to? ![]() |

" There's obviously lighting at play here, because even if I zoomed in, it wouldn't look anything like that. If it helps I can, but I doubt it'd make a difference. There's a discrepency here that isn't playing correctly to armour sets. Yours looks nothing like mine, no matter the zoom level. That said, I can't imagine I'm going to be played zoomed in as much as you have your screenshot as normal play, so *if* it did affect the colour of the armour, then it's a problem. |

" Does yours look the same as mine if you stand in Highgate? What if the Hydra body armour is the only MTX you equip? It's, obviously, fine to post feedback - but nobody can make changes in response to how you feel unless they understand how you feel and why. If you isolate whether your concern is a commentary on how the armour appears in certain environmental lighting or in conjunction with specific other MTX (which?), then your feedback may become more concrete and - thus - actionable. The Hydra set is particularly affected by a given zone's illumination - but not in a way I've ever considered inappropriate. If you imagined a scaled serpent - which is presumably rather moist - then you'd likely expect a notional hydra's colouration to be similarly context-dependent. In the OP you say this; " Water is reflective. If you look at the ocean while the sky has a red hue, the water will be red. |

" I've noticed this on a lot of different MTX. Lighting makes a very large difference in their appearance. A good number of folks have suggested an MTX "Dressing Room" with a light slider and color picker for the light source. I think this would be a splendid way to let people see how their new outfit will look in a variety of settings. Speaking personally, there have been a good number of sets and shields I've avoided simply because I wasn't sure how they'd look in various lightning or combining with other pieces. While I have no idea how much it would cost to develop, I'd hope it would perhaps lead to some more sales, less support complaints and happier customers overall. I could also be completely wrong. |
