Eagon - Scarabs

I placed the scarabs on the last two maps of Eagon's missions. After finishing the maps, I went looking for another one to reactivate the quests. When I returned to the NPC, all the scarabs that were there had disappeared. They hadn't returned to the chest or anything like that.
