I am being chilled in Path of Exile for much more than I should be according to the formula in the wiki https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Chill of 0.5*((D/T)^0.4)*1 After some internal testing, the correct formula for players seems to be 0.75*((D/T)^0.4)*1 but this is not documented anywhere on the patch notes. The previous formula with 0.5 was taken from patch notes on version 3.9. Here is a video of the testing done: https://youtu.be/cbt_zhmkduw Here is a POB of the character in the tests: https://pobb.in/bLs3GT12XmBb According to the prior formula, at 5 trauma stacks, my next hit will cause me to take 169*6=1014 physical damage, 6% of which is taken as cold, for a total of 60.84 damage taken as cold. From here on, I mitigate XX% through Cold Resistance (78%), dual nebuloch (2x8=16% reduced elemental damage taken from hits), the Keystone Nature's Patience (10% less damage taken), 40% damage reduction from 8 endurance charges, and 6% reduced elemental damage taken if I have been hit recently from Lunaris Pantheon. This translates to a multiplier to cold damage taken of 0.22*(1-(0.08+0.08+0.06))*0.6*0.9 = 0.092664, reducing the 60.84 cold damage taken to 5.63767776. Plugging this into the previous formula of 0.5*((D/T)^0.4)*1 gives a chill effect of ~0.03342 (3.342%), but in game I become chilled for 5%. Plugging this into my hypothetical formula of 0.75*((D/T)^0.4)*1, we get ~0.0501 (5.01% chill) which is what is shown in game. Was this change just never documented in the patch notes or is this a bug and not intended? Last bumped on Jul 12, 2025, 12:10:02 AM
