armour prefix on twilight regalia after recombinating
I've done a lot of recombination so far, and until today, essence modifiers—which can't naturally appear on items—have never carried over to the recombined item. Here's a short video of what happened:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoZW8g9i0Ek I'm just curious if this is intended behavior, as I haven’t seen any mention of changes to the recombinator in the patch notes. I’ve experienced this multiple times today. If more clips are needed, I’d be happy to provide them. Last bumped on Jul 12, 2025, 2:03:23 PM

I have very limited knowledge with recombinating, but I just wanted to point out there is an armor essence pure ES base on trade posted 5 days ago, and several on Standard (whether or not using legacy recombinating or Kingsmarch is unclear).
Based on that, if something was changed, it couldn't have been today? Link for context: https://pathofexile.com/trade/search/Mercenaries/aXzm4yRTe Last edited by blackdeath101#5742 on Jul 11, 2025, 4:44:57 PM

I'm also not very good at recombinators, but I think the point here is that essence can give two types of mods - an exclusive "of the essence" mod and a regular mod with a regular name and tier. A regular mod can't be recombined onto an unsuitable item base, but an exclusive one can.

The point is, I’ve used this method around 100 times to transfer mods like “+1 to Maximum Spectres” or Grasping Mail modifiers to new bases, and not once has an essence mod carried over to the new item.
It’s possible that something changed and essence mods are now treated as exclusive, but I couldn’t find anything in the patch notes that mentions this. |

Maybe you used low tier essences that give regular mods (not "of the essence")? Or were you lucky?

it's actually the other way around but you are basically right. I never realized that Deafening Essences of Dread create a prefix called "Essence," but what I really need is "Enveloped" or "Unmoving."
Thanks for pointing that out — guess that was a bit of a brain fart on my end 😅 This thread can be closed! |
