Runegraft of Gemcraft + Awakened gems not increasing level of skill

I have Runegraft of Gemcraft which increases the level of my Awakened gems (Increased Minion damage) (Void Manipulaton) from level 4 to 5.

At lvl 5 those gems receive
(+1 lvl to supported minon gem, and +1 to lvl of supported skill)

Neither of those additional levels are being applied to my skill gem
(Holy relic of conviction)
