Bladecaster Merc is messed up...

Are the support gems for Mercenary skills completely random?

I finally found a 5-link Bladefall and it has Brutality (deal no chaos damage) and Physical as Extra Chaos damage support. The hell??

Absolutely the same thing happened to me, I guess it's a bit of spaghetti code. Completely bricks his EK since I'm using him to apply a mega buffed Aspect of the spider and poison but he can't poison.. At least he doesn't have Brutality on his BV.

Same for Swiftblades. Some skills have random Brutality supports.

Could be a good thing if all their damage skills had Brutality, to make them immune to elemental reflect, but that's not the case.

Makes you take the time to look at their skills and see if they are worth using.

Or farm another 100 maps until you get the next one.

Two auras are already very rare, if you're picky about support gems also, you're looking at 2k+ maps grinding for a specific mercenary.

Yes just what I meant, the grind is real.
