Item on cursor destroyed while Eagon opened memory map

I was opening a map and had shift-clicked a small stack of chaos orbs to mod Eagon's map.

I let go of shift, clicked to open map and immediately went to inventory to move the chaos orbs to the corner of my inventory. While doing this motion, and after picking up the stack, Eagon was doing his map-opening animation. During this, the chaos orbs on the cursor disappeared.
