Essences not dropping sometimes

While essence farming I noticed that sometimes essences weren't dropping.
Video of this: https://youtu.be/E3VkmWj_N-8 This seems to be either specific to some sort of modifier or very rare since I have only encountered this handful of times in the past 24h (and only in the past 24h) and it usually happens only once per map, although in one map it happened 3 times in a row. It also seems to only happen to corrupted imprisoned monsters, but I might be wrong about this.
