Curse on hit/Self cast curses

I'm using a glove, with despair on hit on the merc, however, I use despair (21/20) on self cast to cause whiter on hit with balance of terror, the question is, which despair will stay on the mob? The self cast (21/20) or the despair on hit of the merc, which is level 1?
