Blight towers not deactivating after going far and map crashes with enemy proximity

A blight had a huge amount of monsters, enough to make all textures deload and have just a gray screen below the minimap layer. After some mobs died and textures reloaded again, the instance crashes with an Unexpected disconnection whenever I got closer to the monsters that were still alive.

I was hoping for the monsters to slowly get through by going real far from the blight pump to deactivate the towers, but that did not seem to have an effect. Whenever I got close enough to see a red dot on the map and took a few steps closer, the game crashed.
