Infamous reanimator minion instability explosion converted to chaos killed CI character

An Infamous Reanimator (with the gloves that convert minion damage to chaos) spawned a zombie in my face that immediately exploded (setting aside how incredibly stupid/unfair this is). This damage should have been converted to chaos by her gloves and thus dealt 0 damage to me because my character has Chaos Inoculation.

Bump. Maybe there's something I'm getting wrong about the mechanics, but I believe the gloves should have converted Minion Instability's fire explosion to chaos.
Is there any possibility at all that it was actually Raise Zombie of Falling and you ate the Physical Damage it deals? The gloves modifier you talk about only converts Fire Damage iirc.

Seems unlikely that would deal 5k damage in a t15 map with no damage mods. But yeah, that wouldn't be converted. Minion Instability's explosion is a Fire damage hit dealt by the minion, so it should be converted to Chaos damage by the merc's gloves.
Quickly looking at your gear and assuming no altars either boosting their damage, I see lucky suppress and only 10% phys shift that would offset the damage. If they have a 5 or 6L zombie, hidden passive synergy or auras boosting the damage, and you didn't suppress the damage, then I could see that doing 6k+ damage. But there's so much about their damage we can't see with hidden passive tree.. 2 similar geared mercs can do 10x different damage between passives and supports.

They did nerf a bunch of the phys skills today, but sadly zombie was not on the list if that is what got you. Unfortunately, no way to confirm aside from getting that combination again or someone at GGG forces it.
Did I miss something? Where did the mercenary get Minion Instability?

The Reanimator Mercenary no longer has Minion Instability while in the Enemy state.

Well, at least that part is fixed now so you shouldn't die to that if it was non-chaos MI.
