Are abysses bugged?

I only got 2 abyss encounters in my map (dunes) and it says 5 additional abysses, am i doing smth wrong?, last map it had all 6 abysses (1 from atlas 2 from scarabs and 3 from map device). Is the map the issue or is it abyss itself?

Ye, it seems bugged. Even with the Abyss map crafting option, which should guarantee 3 additional, I have 2 in my map in total.. and this is with 2 abyss scarabs as well. Map should have 5.
