Mercenaries bug.

I had 3 mercenaries, 1 of them was following me, in which I invest quite some divines..., I found 1 mercenary that I was interested in, I press the hire button, and selected the reserve, I had 2 options select from, as 1 of them was grayed out (supposing it is the one with me), I select 1 of them as I did not care about the 2 from base, and the mercenary that was with me vanished and lost all my loot from him, and it was a good mercenary with 2 good auras the I needed....

Can someone help me?
