[Workaround] "There has been a patch that you need to update to" error when logging in

@mods feel free to move this to an appropriate place. Put it here as it might help finding the bug causing it.

This popped up for the first time for me at the start of 3.26, I've since started using a Porting Kit, which is working well, but then I got this same error there. What helped to get around it was to go to:

Options -> Graphics then change resolution. Doesn't matter to which size. Save the setup and go launch the game again. Once you're back in, restore your normal settings. I've been able to replicate it all day when I get the error. YMMV.
