Problems with Debian (stable+testing) - hardware too old?
Hi, i have the following system:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 16GB Memory, Samsung Evo 850 SSD, AMD R9 280x graphic card Linux debian 6.11.5-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.11.5-1 (2024-10-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux I know the hardware is really old. The game is not playable, i have about 3 fps. I am wondering if this is normal or if it would work better on windows? Last bumped on Nov 10, 2024, 7:36:40 PM

The bare minimum specs for Windows and macOS are:
OS: Windows 10 Processor: Quad core 2.6GHz x86-compatible Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 650 Ti or ATI Radeon™ HD 7850 DirectX: Version 11 Network: Broadband Internet connection Storage: 40 GB available space OS: macOS 10.13 Processor: 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: Radeon Pro 450 Network: Broadband Internet connection Storage: 40 GB available space Old hardware would struggle. 😹😹😹😹😹

the cpu is a quad core with 3.4ghz, the graphic card is newer and better then the hd 7850. so it should work on debian but it does not. settings are already at lowest but it is unplayable, i have about 3fps. in that case i assume its simply not supported on linux with not-bleeding-edge hardware

Are you using Wine or Proton/Steam? Unfortunately there has never been any native support for linux.

i tried it with proton. i found many people complaining about the latest release. seems like there is some problems. wondering if it would make sense to try it with wine. whats a bit confusing, i have about 20% cpu usage and 10% gpu usage but its laggy as hell.
installed for testing win11 on this very old hardware, now PoE works like a charm. So it must be some sort of bug in PoE. What a pity Last edited by släggi on Nov 13, 2024, 9:54:49 AM
