People abusing report system to free up names they want

Hello,

I have not played Path of Exile for quite some time yet in my absence I see that three characters have had their names suspended and now Grinding Gear Games expects me to change them, which is not going to happen. I want my names restored and the people that falsely reported the names in order to take them to be forced to change their characters instead.

None of these names are remotely offensive or problematic and people have abused the report system while I wasn't even playing to take the names for themselves, so how would they even see the characters to report them?

In the over 11 years that I have been part of the Path of Exile community I have never had any issues at all, not a single one. Now I see people abusing the report system to take my names, this is unacceptable.

What an insanely bad system, wow I have no words. Just awful.

I have many characters, so to avoid the names being locked like you have experienced just simply make a note to log into them once every now and then. This only takes a few minutes, can be done be done at the end of each month, or whatever respective time within the threshold works for you. I think this system is fine, you just need to remember to do it. Keeps it fair for everyone.

You can't if not log in like more than 8 years as well as not enter the map

Hardly bad, much requested by players (because of limited imaginations)

And to be fair you only noticed this now because you have came back due to the buzz around PoE2, if you actively play PoE1 you'll be in the temp leagues which requires new characters and new names, the ones in standard tend to just sit there and rot.
