Another in a series of deleted characters...

Hi
It's a bit strange that this has been going on since the last decade, as far as I can see...
However, I am another case of losing a character in the game due to trying to connect it to Steam with an account on the GGG site.
Will my lost character be available again?
What should I write in the email I need to send to support?

I'm afraid that we're unable to assist with this over the forum, however, if you're ever in a situation where you've lost access to your characters please send an email to support@grindinggear.com about this.

In your email if you could please include your Path of Exile account name and the names of your missing characters, we may be able to look into this further with you.
Thank you.
Will this bug ever be fixed?
A fairly simple option that doesn't work and, no less, it wipes out the character in the game.

It isn't a bug, it is people fucking up the process, you are basically creating a new account which you are then linking that overwrites the other account.

In all honesty i don't even know how you manage it it's pretty straight forward and can be done with a minimum of reading.
Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

He who controls the pants controls the galaxy. - Rick & Morty S3E1
Yes. It should be pretty simple.
But the character I was last logged in with here is probably from when I may have been logging into the game through the client. I don't even remember anymore...
I was registered here in 2015, and I've been on Steam roughly since this decade. For me, the "old registration" on the site, so to speak, deleted the "new" one that I am currently using on Steam.
Which of these two accounts is "newer"?

Is there a FAQ about this one?
How many times has this happened?
There are also no "are you sure? This and that" type warnings, if the fix is complicated.

I need a tutorial to change my character? Really?
You connect here to Steam, click on change character (and then there should be a notification if something is not normal), you get a list of characters (or whatever, since I didn't even get there), choose the one you want and you're done. But, no. Here, that operation ends up waiting endlessly for anything to load. Whether it's a bug or not, the result is the same.

Thanks for understanding.

Until the next regular in-game write-up
Cheers!

They probably could make it more foolproof. In any case where the action would result in removing one account show a pick box asking when one they want to keep with lists of characters shown.

UI Concept:

Could make it fancier by defaulting to the most recently logged in or most played account.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

It is very simple . Login account you want to keep, and then link email (or Steam) that you don't want to keep.

Instead of making account with email and fuck up the process.
