Help connecting my POE from steam?

So, the current POE account I play on is apparently set to private and already has an account made on here with an email I am unaware/forgot about. I can't use recover password because I don't know the email associated with it(and the email I use through steam doesn't work as well).
I've tried linking my steam account to here, but it only gives me the option to link it by deleting my current account and all my items with it as well. How would I go about this? I don't want to delete my current character(s) and items, but I also would like to make my profile public and see other stats associated with it.
