Help link my steam account, cant see my new characters

So a long time ago, in another city far far away... I started to play this game... I just recently installed it through steam and when I link my steam account to here I cannot see my new characters. Everything is link correctly it seems but maybe someone can give me a clue as to how to resolve this issue. When I click on my account it sees my steam account no problem but does not show my current characters, only the old characters from 2012.
