essence drops in group play

hey yo, one question,
does anyone know how party play effect the drops from essence monsters ?,
i read a post from a few years ago,
"
Each additional player in your party adds a chance for an additional random essence to drop when the monster is killed.
"
is this still up to date ?

Im wondering this now..

Does this mean a random new Essence is generated when the essence mob is killed?
