Issue with Shipping Address for Core Supporter Pack

I am trying to enter my address for my apartment in Washington DC, but when I enter District of Columbia for the state it gives me the error message "Please provide a real state." While it is technically true that DC is not a state, shipping addresses to the US always treat it as one. Is there a workaround to this issue or should I just put in Virginia as the state and trust the shipper to sort it our based on zip code and address?
