Supporter Pack Upgrade Question

If I Upgrade from the Kalguuran Runesmith to the Vaal Serpent-God, will the total number of points remain 1600 or will 600 be deducted and total points will be set to 1000?

I just don't quite understand how it works, it would be nice if someone could explain it to me (How the upgrade works, how to make it and other technical points). Thanks, Happy New Year yall
