Inquisitor's consecrated ground without pious path disables another inquisitor's pious path

I have sanctuary and pious path, and offsets the degen from the righteous fire with the pious path. My inquisitor friend only has sanctuary, and not pious path. When I step on his consecrated ground, my pious path gets disabled for a few seconds and my energy shield drops rapidly (I have eldritch battery and mind over matter)
