Gifting a new player MTX points (XBOX SERIES X)?

So my buddy started playing PoE recently and is really getting into it. He’s playing on XBOX and I’d like to gift him some guilt free POE points but I don’t know how. I contacted support and they said I am unable to do it directly, I’m wondering if I buy him an XBOX gift card and he enters the info to load the money up onto his console if he can then use that to buy the MTX. Or are points not actually available in the Xbox console store? I don’t own an XBOX so I’m not sure.
