Returning Player Question

Hi everyone, didnt play PoE in a long time and now i wanna give it another shot.

Just one little Question.

I planning on doing a Shield Crush Build. Always loved Sword and Board style.

Is it a viable Starter or is alotnof deep knowledge necessary ?

I dont plan on taking on some Uber Bosses.
Just wanna have a good Time on Maps.

Im thinking about Champion.
