Kalandra's Beautiful Graphics eclipsed by game play changes
Sometimes good things aren't noticed because of bad things. The drops seem broken in Kalandra. And because of that, it's like the game itself is discouraging us from playing it. That's not the artists' fault.
The artwork of the new mechanic is gorgeous. In a game where even a garden was made into a nightmare and heist had plenty of dark areas, it was refreshing to have a mechanic where the action takes place over a sun-reflecting lake. The hexagonal tiling, while perhaps practical from a programming perspective, also brought to mind mysterious real world places. The Giant's Causeway in northern Ireland rises out of the Atlantic like Kalandra's reflections rise out of her lake. The tiling also evokes the Nan Madol ruins of Micronesia with their strange long stones. Sometimes good things can become associated with bad things. I hope that doesn't happen here. I up-vote the artwork from this mechanic and hope to see more of it. Last bumped on Aug 23, 2022, 10:38:24 PM
