Forbidden Rite Occultist with TOTEMS !?

Hi, POE newb here,

if it comes to totems, everyone is talking about Hierophant. But not why considering Occultist?

As Hierophant you get:
* +1 totem (seems to be the main reason to pick it)
* increased duration (does not matter on clearing and totem will most likely kill themself anyways)
* increased placement speed

As Occultist you get:
* -20% chaos res
* Withered
* 1 additional curse

the question is, if the pros for Occultist outweight the +1 totem of Hierophant?

What do you think?

Side question: Does inc. chaos/spell dmg and maximum life on player affects totems as well?

Best regards

More totems, more overall damage, more "meat shields" for you. Occultist's benefits really don't make it better than Hierophant.
I am emotionally & mentally drained through the sharking waters.
I have also already thought about this but I'm absolutly not sure it will work out well.

The main point will be that you will have to keep summoning your totems since they kill themself in 4-5 casts. Usually you might want to get a Soul Mantle because you can build a 7L totem that way, but since the totems keep dying and the flask nerfs, it will most likely require a hefty investment in order to deal with the curses you inflict on yourself.

But for your question Hierophat or Occultist: I would most likely say Hierophant. Since you are summoning the totems in stead of doing the damage yourself, you will most likely try to stay in the second row, which means you won't be able to make that much advantage out of the free wither and - enemy chaos res. The occultist would be the class of my choice if you decide to go selfcast in stead.
You say Prison Cell, I hear 'Holiday'.
