Question regarding Redemption Sentry damage types

I've watched some streamers/guide builder on youtube that equip high tier spell damage off-hand with necromaner aegis point. So my question is does spell damage affect Redemption Sentry Spectre's attack damage (which is mainly physical damage convert to cold damage)? Thank you!
