Tane dialogue discusses Piety's demise when I'm still in Act 2

I entered Tane's laboratory and he had a new dialogue option for me: Piety.

He proceeds to talk about Piety's demise and her attempt at redemption.
The thing is, I'm still in Act 2 and haven't yet entered the Vaal Ruins. I have met Piety a few times, but she hasn't yet died in the storyline for me in this league.
