Small change needed for Resurrect in town/checkpoint dialogue
The current death popup dialogue that comes up with the resurrect at town, resurrect at checkpoint needs a small change in regards to the button bindings.
currently they are both bound to buttons used by skills and too many times during a tough fight I've accidentally selected resurrect in town when the dialogue pops up because the keybind is circle, which is also a skill button i use for either movement related skills or channeled skills, and chances are I'm probably still pressing/holding the button at the time the dialogue appears perhaps instead of using circle and X, a simply using LS to highlight the option and X to select since X is probably the least used skill button. i think GGG could rework all the bindings.
i dont have any probems with the dead pop up, on circle are just my golems or town portal. But on X i have more the important skills and i know my brother has his main skill on x, he tried to use square for main but didnt feel comfortable with it. So a menu to select would be horrible, if you change it then use two keys (for axample "[triangle] + [x]" to ressurect at checkpoint and "[square] + [circle]" for resurrect in town) | |
GGG are very specific, to a peculiar degree.
Whenever there's a feature which they don't want you to accidentally trigger, the button-binding is deliberately awkward. They have stated this on occasion, when asked about the peculiar trading binds. We can therefore infer that any button-binding which is frequently pressed accidentally is either intentional for some reason, or unimportant or inconsequential enough that accidental presses don't matter. Considering that accidentally clicking the wrong button on death is something people frequently do on the PC version of the game, this kind of accident is something GGG is aware of, and is fully aware of the consequences of. As a result, you would have expected GGG would have implemented the same awkward button-binds into revival that they expect us to use for the trade or search feature - ie. a combination of a button press/stick movement and a d-pad press. That they have not chosen to do so is likely because it would impact the balance of the game somehow. Accidental pressing of the wrong button is a thing. But the majority of mispresses, or people selecting "respawn in town", are players who're emotionally-charged or enraged by the death. If you don't have a cool head, and pick the wrong choice in anger or accidentally in a fit of rage then you have to live with the consequences of that. And when you think about it, aside from accidents and fits of rage, there's never a genuine reason for "respawn in town" to even exist. If the option was removed, it would maybe cost you a single portal scroll, or use of the portal spell to move to the town from whichever checkpoint you respawned at. No scrolls? Just log-out or go to the switch-character screen and return to the game; you'll appear in the town for free. |

how-about just getting rid of the dialogue entirely and just auto-respawn at the checkpoint, although on some maps that could be just as frustrating giving the sheer size of some of the areas, some of which don't have waypoints.
