RF and Hinekora leech

Hinekora gives "1% of fire damage leeched as life"

I know RF is a degen and doesn't hit. leech requires a "hit" so therefore RF does not leech.

When I look at RF under my character screen on the offense tab it says "life leech from fire damage 1%".

Is this an error? Should i ignore it or is Hinekora an exception to the leech rule? I've researched and just cannot find up to date info.
