The Crimson Storm Bow
Hey guys,
So I saw this new unique bow in the next expansion, the crimson storm bow. It's basically a bleed bow and I want to make a build with that. I think deadeye would be the best ascendancy but I don't know what would be the best skill or the best talent tree. So, any of you guys want to help me to theocrafting this build? Thank you for your help, I'm new as a ranger, usualy I play melee classes hahaha. Embrace the vaal and the corruption! Only then, you will be bless by Atziri. That's how I got a Headhunter in the Atziri Apex of Sacrifice! Last bumped on Jan 25, 2019, 6:14:11 PM

This bow is cool, but in it's current state is almost useless. Damage wise it's really good, however anything this bow does - you can craft better version using fossils. Unless the veiled mod is broken in some way, i simply cannot see it being used over other options available:
* Reach of the Council (LMP + high AS and max phys) * Death's Opus (LMP + high crit chance and multi, perfect agony build LUL) * Lioneye's Glare (high damage, can't be evaded + far shot) * 100% more damage with bleeding fossil bow (+ 7-link if crafted on elder bow) So in general, the only real appeal here is increased flask charges. Who needs that in current state of the game? Seriously tho, if not for easily available fossil mod, this bow could see some use. Unless veiled mod can craft offer something equivalent to that - this bow is going to be vendor food. A real shame, honestly. It COULD potentially be used for some pure phys attack build, if they're any good this league with those banners and stuff. It's all speculations. In case you still want to make a build, you can check out my bleed gladiator guide for inspirations. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3053600 - My Guides

Unfortunately, it's not good enough.
Pure phys just doesn't scale NEARLY enough for endgame stuff. I have a 46% quality Crimson Storm with rather good rolls, and even with Impale from Dread Banner and added phys from Herald of Purity, it just doesn't hold the candle to any elemental builds. I can go up to T7-8 maps with this deadeye, T9 with problems. Not higher. Pure Phys/Bleed was fun for leveling, yes, I loved seeing even syndicate members bleed to death after 1-2 shots of Puncture. After getting Crimson Storm and Impale into the build, I foolishly tried to hit as often as possible, but choosing Barrage/Rain of Arrows was so obviously a bad choice, thanks to their abysmal %weapondmg modifiers, the hit damage is stupidly low - which means both impale and the bleed damage are stupidly low (didn't even TRY to go for Crimson Dance as that would practically nullify the aready weak bleed dps). I even went as far as to try out Gruthkul to get higher global phys dmg, but the result was MUCH WORSE than expected - having so many other global phys increases, sacrificing ALL spells for just about 10% dmg increase was a laughable concept. I'm still tempted to try to switch back to Puncture, or really any pure phys bow skill with higher damage coefficient, but that can be annoying - can't really confirm any theories since it would be helluva expensive as I can't theoryscaft for free - Path of Building doesn't have Crimson Storm in it's database yet. Besides, the only phys skills for bow are: - Barrage, Rain of Arrows with abysmal damage - Split Arrow does a little bit more and actually has multi projectiles as base so maybe worth a shot - Tornado Shot was exactly the same as Barrage/RoA since while it got more dmg on paper, switching in a GMP cut the damage back to the same numbers... the result being worse at AoE than RoA and worse than Barrage at single target. Bad enough. - Puncture and Frenzy, both having the same problem - cutting the damage too much by using GMP. Still, they have the second highest and THE highest %weapondmg coefficients of all pure phys bow skills, so maybe it's worth a shot. I'm still pissed you can't Chain Puncture though. Nothing especially says you can't, it just does't work for some reason (tried with Roth's Reach bow back when leveling) I REALLY REALLY wish archers could use Ancestral Warchief (which doesn't even have anything in description mentioning it works ONLY with melee weapons, yet, here we are unusable with bow), Bloodlust support and Ruthless support. And that Brutality support didn't disable chaos damage, as even the little poison could go a long way. I really don't see any reson for Bloodlust and Ruthless actually requiring melee. It's just plain UNFAIR. There's only so much you can do with Projectile support gems - they are mostly WAY weaker and have severe downsides to them in almost every case (mainly the absurdly HUGE damage cuts of GMP and Chain - it's kinda laughable that while Pierce BUFFS damage, Chain halves it. Damn Arc, it's because of YOU, AIN'T IT?!). To be unable to do proper damage with TWO goddamn 6links is really a laughable concept. I'd be tempted to try Champion instead of Deadeye for this bow, as Champion is the only ascendacy that got the Impale (even without the readful Dread Banner), but yet again, Fortify branch only buffs MELEE damage, making archers really a goddamn forsaken stuff. PS: Banners are absolutely MURDERING my fashion sense. My deadeye literally has a stick coming out of her ass. Even the texture of the banner is all wrong. The War banner at least has blood on it. As you get stacks of Dread Banner buff, the smear is SILVER. What's that supposed to be, ghost semen? PS2: Barrage Puncture, etc have so damn SMALL projectiles you practically can't SEE them, and they have a very bad tendency of missing mobs by flying through between them. Their hitboxes are like 1/10 the width of some Elemental Hit or something like that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- MTX Wishlist: - Mirage Archer (elemental variants + blood red or ebony for physical/bleed) - Barrage/Puncture (and whatever other skills that have no effect and hard to spot arrows - Demonic, Ebony, elemental variants) New Gem Wishlist: - Herald of Cruelty (15% chance to Impale, 5-40% inscreased damage done to bleeing targets, 0.5% increased global phys dmg per quality) - Might (aura, 15-40% Phys Dmg multiplier [as in EXTRA damage, X%of Phys dmg as added phys dmg, not a meagre gpd multiplier that gets lost in translation because of bad base %weapon dmg on skill gem], converts 40% elemental damage to Physical damage, disables elemental damage) Last edited by Peregrine1 on Jan 25, 2019, 6:18:47 PM
