Poison rain of arrows

I wanted to try out a rain of arrows build last league and never got the time. Now the herald of agony looks interesting as well so I'm wondering how ROA would do with a poison support as a way of applying virulence stacks and as AOE clear while letting the crawler do the heavy lifting on single target. Is this a completely terrible idea or could this do okay? Never done much with bow characters and theorycrafting isn't my strong suit. How much would a ROA tree differ from a tree for caustic arrow other than speccing into area nodes?

You can try out Toxic Rain build which can pretty much work with same nodes as Caustic arrow without any significant changes. Since a lot of bow nodes boost chaos + proj+ dot, Toxic rain might scale better and can give better boss results since it might be difficult to maintain virulence stacks on bosses with RoA

Yea, I thought toxic rain first but the area looks way to small compared to rain of arrows, at least in the video. I'll definitely try out both.

Since PF has 50% increased area for Chaos damage, I doubt the area is going to be a big issue unless the base area is same size as Blast rain. If you are going for RoA build, I would recommend having a barrage with GMP and Poison to keep up the Virulence stacks during boss fights. If virulence can be gained from Mirage Archer(doubt) go for that
Hello! I like the idea of a poison ROA build, was thinking about it myself. However, i am sad to say that this is not a very good idea. When playing poison, most of the builds try to apply as much stacks of poison as possible to maximize DPS , this is also what you want to stack virulence. The best bet is to do this is GMP/Chain or both. For ROA wiki says:"Additional arrows will be added at the outer portion of the Area of Effect, effectively increasing the AoE of the skill". We probably have no way to increase the projectile numbers of ROA and i do not know how much projectile will hit a single target simultaneously. However you could try it for mapping (for bosses barrage is the best anyway), but usually tornado shot is used for that.

The ROA tree would be very different form a caustic arrow tree, because you focus on poison and not the degen. Caustic arrow builds usually get a lot of projectile damage as it increases the damage of the poison cloud. Poison builds do not care about projectile damage as it does not scale the poison damage. You also would not want to get increased area, because the number of fired projectiles would be probably the same on a wider area, which will cause less projectiles to hit the same target.

I think you shall decide what you want more: poison build or degen (caustic arrow) build? For a poison build an assassin probably would be better, for a degen (caustic arrow) build PF is better.

I am doing a poison assassin myself this league. Using toxic rain is pretty straight forward, it is very good both for a poison or a degen build. It is probably the "poison ROA" you wanted. Every projectile creates a plant, which explodes after a delay, and all the plants can hit the same enemy, which is very good for poison (and for applying virulence stacks). The degen also is good, and it slows the enemies. The delay feels a bit slow, but it's okay for me.

If you got any question, feel free to ask me, because i went very deep on poison builds as i am playing one right now.
