New player aid

Hey guys, im new to the game, totally loving it so far, sadly i did not know you would have to choose the "way to go" with skills earlier on, i saw a guide on youtube and went with it, uses firestorm and all, so i kinda feel like a "mage" atm. I chose templar to get that paladin vibe and apparently i am kinda stuck being a caster now with all the points on spell dmg etc etc, any tips?

Guide says to switch to frostbolt at 50 and so on, should i make a different character? to focus more on melee class? do you recommend something else?

I saw some of the builds around, just wanted something viable but with that paladin vibe, either that champion with shield and 1h or 2h maces stuff like that, is that even good at higher levels?=P
