Fireball, block and dodge
Okay so there has been this rumour floating around for a while that you cant block/dodge the natural/wall/duration/maxrange explosions of fireballs. It turns out block and dodge are actually working the way they should and in fact help immensely against any kind of fireball char.
We tested this with harleycue and for an example I was able to idle forever in the middle of his max range fireball spam with a simple life potion (with a rumi, had 46% spell dodge and 75% spell block on my bear trapper, 5,8k hp and 1,3k mana). Without the defences I obviously died literally instantly. So yeah, there is probably nothing funky going on with the "secondary damage" of fireball explosions when it comes to blocking and dodging them. I think if the proj hits, the secondary damage does as well. If you block/dodge the proj, then you also block/dodge the secondary damage.

" That is exactly how static strike works. Fireball doesnt have a secondary hit similar to that. In an open ground and short range, you cant get hit by both the projectile AND aoe, just one. The only way to get hit by both from a single projectile is with pierce on the first hit through you and then the aoe because of an explosion on wall/maxrange. The issue here was that people believed you wouldnt be able to block the secondary area damage explosions on max range or on a wall, but in fact you can. I believed this is how it works when I played it pre-buff, and after hearing that rumor I still suspected it works like that, especially after seeing demi's ctf video, but I didn't get to test it myself, good to know.

" Grrrrr.... reflect damage :( On topic: I think what skewed my results in previous tests was we only considered block, not block AND spell dodge. And since at max range you can get hit by more than 1 explosion and I'm specced entirely pure damage, it felt like people were blocking/dodging because they would die rapidly. Yea I can infinite tank Harley's balls, if it were secondary I would die instantly.
