How to deal with ScoldBreath builds?
I've been trying to do some PVP recently but I just can't seem to deal with CWDT based builds. Their damage is very strong, if they get on top of you you can die in a split second, but that's somewhat fair as many builds have strong burst.
My issue is that Zerphi's allows for massive unlimited healing without having to invest into massive HP regen or anything, so if you can't kill them in 1 second you won't kill them at all, unless you somehow make them run out of flasks (good luck with that if they play PF). Leech is very weak in PVP because your damage is a lot lower, but that flask basically does the same with no reduction. Any tips on dealing with that, aside from playing an aegis troll build? As you said if you can't one shot them you can't kill them. Welcome to PoE pvp.

Yeah it's broken a fuck. I emailed Chris a couple days ago and among the pen/pathfinder/winter enchant problems I brought up, I also asked him to talk to the balance guys about rewording from "mana cost" to "mana spent" on the flask so it can't be used with level 1 blood magic support gems like it currently is being (ab)used. He's passing the info along.
It'll probably be like this until December, so don't hold your (zerphi's last) breath. 🎆🎆 www.youtube.com/c/Ahfack 🎆🎆 NEW #1 LLRF Helm -> 30% MORE|25CON|25BURN|-12fire|352es 🎆🎆 #1 Phys/Impale Leg 70% Multi Amulet + #1 Phys Rings! 🎆🎆 ^^Free 7L Fortify Cyclone! 🎆🎆 https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/534134 Last edited by Ahfack on Oct 4, 2016, 1:35:04 PM

As long as "mana spent" doesn't end up working with MoM for a pseudo-invincibility effect >.>

Well they don't spend mana, they link skills with level 1 blood magic gems and spend life. This wasn't originally my idea, but when someone mentioned it in a thread in the past I remember everyone agreeing that would be a good fix.

Scold + Zerphi + BM builds have a very high "cull range". You don't have to fully oneshot them, if they go below 500% of their mana cost, which can be 2-4k life, they suicide because of scold.

" Dont forget that you dont need scold's to abuse zerphi. This way the builds become nearly twice as tanky as the regen goes even higher and you won't cull yourself. All you really need is a bloodmagic weapon/supportgem and a way to deplete your mana (a simple lightning warp or whirling blades works perfectly) Last edited by lapiz on Oct 5, 2016, 4:57:50 AM

Lapiz, I wrote about the scoldsless version myself, and I also prefer that, but the CWDT version of the build was the topic of the thread, and with that version you can't reliably use CWDT as main damage, you need to get some actual damaging active skill.

My PvE scold's character uses 14 cwdt spells(can't use my lvl 21 spells though, as I don't have l21 cwdt) and even at low level it deals insane damage, and now I havent pvpd with it or seen it in pvp so can't say how strong it is, but it surely is extremely strong if you can use as many spells and most at level 21
It's hard to remember what you have forgotten

The trick, is to catch them when they move/ walk, so that they're not attacking.
Think of it as gorilla war fare, Hit & run. As long as they move, they are not healing. [Gear & Club] ¯\(°_°)/¯ #1 Professional Afk Club /2133058
