vortex trapper gems?

Which one to use? Does poison work with vortex? Is decay ok or use another gem for more dmg?

Maybe firetarpin can chime in here as I've never done traps (bc they're lame lol) but I imagine you'd want to use

In a +3cold staff, With Hair trigger jewels on your tree, and carcass Jack for chest.

i saw a video, where someone with 10k was one hited with trap vortex. Wonder which gems does he use

Seen some pve trap crit using vortex+cold to fire+fire pen.
it does opi damage at first hit, then you get ignited badly thks to crit+fire.

I guess if you get like 60k degen damage, your enjoy a 30k fire/30kcold damage from it + the ignite damage.could this be done in pvp? I would think so.

You forgot Elemental Equilibrium for Maximum Ingnitness and weakness against cold ^^ ^^

The DoT from vortex is only cold, and AFAIK it can not be converted at all in any way shape or form. Just the initial hit is converted, which in PVE is actually pretty good if you scale crit also.

I have this enchant as well so I don't have to use increased AoE gem.

I have 3 hair trigger jewels on tree + carcass jack.


My dot is around 130-140k. I can get up to 280-300k tho (if elemental overload procs off your CWDT setups) and you turn on RF, but that's really unlikely. You can turn on RF when you know someone's about to hit a trap tho. Just make sure you got a anti-ignite flask.


And I'm using a pyre ring to convert the initial damage because the dot can't be converted. Perfect for equilibrum.

how do you proc elemental overload? i have same links as you do, but i have empower lvl 3 and it doesnt do as much dmg as trap and mine gem
I find cluster traps quite usefel both in pve and pvp

Cluster trap is a waste of damage.

I dropped elemental overload because it wasn't proccing often enough since I have no investment in crit.

I just compared my damage with empower vs trap and mine damage and it's definitely higher with empower.

Mine is level 4 tho and it's in a +1/+2 staff with a level 21 vortex. So the higher you get in levels, the bigger the base damage you get per level.

Handy boot enchant for ele overload

Could also do cwdt lvl 1 ice spear/gmp, but if you're a trapper your most likely getting 1shotted. But if not, could always try that ;)
