Bypassing energy shield ?

I went in sarn arena yesterday and encountered this SRS instability summoner, surprisingly i saw my life go down to 0 before my energy shield a couple times in a row without being able to tell what happened...
i'm wearing shavronnes so i really dont understand how could my life get dropped to 0 and still have 6k remaining ES. Has anyone else experienced this ? Is that from the SRS exploding ? As far as i know nothing in the game can bypass es with shav...
