Best Melee Build for PVP?
Question is pretty much in the title. Does Flicker Strike work at all?. Really just interested in the PVP. Inb4 "not a pvp game".. I enjoy PVE as well but was hoping someone has some input to this.

Flicker doesnt do anything but there are a few other ways you can go melee with at the moment.
Perhaps the best choice would be an inquisitor with legacy aegis (dont bother if without legacy). Then use at least 2 rumis for gaining max block. Your skill can be anything from molten strike to frost blades depending on situation and opponent. Use at least hatred and physical to lightning gem and you are set. You need a good 1h sword or a dagger for this to actually work. You are weak to blind with this build but you cant have it all. It has a lot of potential but is pretty hard and expensive to make cause you need rather spesific armour/es items to make aegis actually meaningful. Another solid choice is a 6link crit whirling blades while dual wielding a really good 1hand sword/dagger and a soul taker to take care of mana costs. Go for ranger pathfinder or shadow saboteur for blind immunity. Perhaps the best option though is to just go shadow trickster so you can get rid of the soul taker and replace it with a dark seer to counter blind. All can be decent choices and you dont get countered by blind much. This build works rather well as RT also, which allows more room to play with ascendacies. The 3rd option is to go RT 2hander+kaoms (doesnt really matter if legacy or not) with whatever skill you wish to use. You can kill people if u got at least a disfavour. Im fairly sure this is the worst option out of all the melee builds but it can done none the less. It is definitely the cheapest one to make. Last edited by lapiz on Apr 6, 2016, 7:29:17 PM

" Pardon my noobness, but wouldn't this nerf your damage quite heavily?
" Dark seer or soul taker would just be stat sticks, going 6l whirling blades with either would just use your main hand dagger/sword.
" This is from the wiki, so I don't know if it's 100%: "When Dual Wielding, hits are dealt with either the main or off hand weapon, chosen at random." So if this is indeed the case, it stands to reason that you're nerfing your damage by 30-40% by putting a stat stick in your offhand.
You're unable to whirl with a stick in your hand, wb works with onehanded blades only.
Some attacks use only main hand, some - the hand with appropriate weapon, you can hold a mace in main hand for leap slam and a dagger in offhand for WB. WB is an unique skill, it has high T value while in fact its almost instant 'charge-and-hit' attack (just like Leap Slam). that's why it has additional pvp dmg penalty, that's why it still OP AF. Molten Strike is another 'good for pvp' skill - additional projectiles is 'shotgun' analog. Last edited by EFBBBF on Apr 7, 2016, 2:12:07 AM

I did enjoy blowing shit up with my mjolner cyclone discharger max block aegis. it's a solid choice even if it's not "true" melee.

" The setups I suggested do work. If dual wielding, whirling blades uses both weapons unless they are an axe or a mace. Therefore the offhand is just a stat stick and gives us that juicy dual wield bonus for attack phys dmg and attack speed. Unfortunately WB is the only really good skill that can use this mechanism cause all the other good skills can be used with every weapon class (mainly molten strike and frostblades). Ice crash and heavy strike are also decent skills that you can use with a stat stick as offhand. Last edited by lapiz on Apr 7, 2016, 9:19:30 AM

I can only recommend doing melee in this game if you enjoy kicking water uphill or beating your head against a wall.
