No PvP events in the challenge leagues?

Why are PVP events restricted to standard/hardcore characters? I've never pvp'ed before and have just this patch taken time to build a pvp character and sunk a bunch of currency into their gear. Today I take a look at the event listing and see that events are only for standard and hardcore characters. What's the beef?

So my option is to start over and go into standard — where there are millions of rich players with perfect gear— and get my ass kicked? Why didn't GGG decide to start these tournaments on an even playing field in the new leagues? Or at least have separate events running parallel for all leagues?
