What's the point in losing points for dying when desync happens all the time?
Why do you lose points on death?
Most of the times you die is because of desync. Remove the points loss for death until desync is fixed. Last edited by Hop#6184 on Dec 8, 2013, 11:35:41 AM

You die because of stun and that doesn't allow you to move.
You get stunlocked but sadly you get only resynched once a new stun triggers but the stunlock already costs 70-80% HP and the next stun kills you. It happened to me several times. |

stunlocks and slow resync + 10 sec delay for /oos is definitely more deadly than dis sink

Seriously, it's freaking stupid. It's happened to us three times in a row now. There aren't enough Descent and Champions races, so anyone who wants points has to participate in the standard races. The party mode is at least tolerable due to group interaction but the server *ALWAYS* flips out within 5 minutes of the league ending.
Last night, 3 people insta-died less than 10 seconds before the race ended, losing 5 points each. If we knew that was going to happen, we would have spent the hour and a half doing ANYTHING else. Fix this please. In the mean time, we'll be playing a different game for a while. Last edited by feyith#0081 on Dec 16, 2013, 12:17:55 PM

" Desync will never be fixed, it's an intractable problem. The best they can do is improve it. Desync is a part of the game (all online games of this type), and part of the skill in racing is learning how to avoid desync, how to recognize when it is happening or likely to be happening, what to do in such cases, etc. etc. etc. The reason some races award points even if you die has nothing to do with desync. It was instituted as an incentive to push as far as possible in the new league modes (Descent, Endless Ledge), rather than stop when you have a safe lead or good number of points. yeah , but they forget that it makes older league laughably un attractive in comparison

The "desync cant be fixed" statement that gets copy pasted around all the time is blatantly false. GGG could fix it overnight by //ing out the majority of their prediction code and replacing it with actual regular/full updates to the client. We can only assume they dont do this because it would potentially cost them too much money as its not really compatible with the f2p business model, but the fact remains that the option to mostly eliminate desync (and without compromising security) is available, and always has been.
On topic: Id be fine with level threshold points being given to dead characters in all races, long as placement points and prizes remained restricted to the living. IGN: KoTao

" Ah, so GGG could, but is intentionally not fixing the biggest issue in the game. Understood. Character archive: view-thread/963707

" Exactly. |

" Something to do with not wanting to go bankrupt id guess. Consider that they could potentially have a million simultaneous players wanting 10+ full updates per second worth of bandwidth being used, with less than 1% of those customers actually paying for it. Plenty of possibility for their financial situation to take a swift southward turn there. IGN: KoTao
