Here's a tip GGG:

If you know your game has sync issues:

Dont make your signature event consist of indoor areas with fast moving enemies. Seriously, realize some shit doesn't work amazingly, and work around it.

So many mistakes with descent. It's a fun style of race, but that's about it. Better luck in S04

Either lower the monster density or widen the passages. Areas like submerged passage and its descent equivalent are terrible for desync due to the combination of 1-monster wide passages, crazy squid density and chains/chill/freeze all over the place. Same with the vaal pyramid area in descent with all the charging ribbons- masses of small, fast monsters + shield charge + tons of 1-monster wide doors makes for a ton of desync and accordingly awful gameplay.

If you cant or wont fix the base causes of desync, how about mitigating its effects by limiting the amount of desync-inducing monster skills and map designs instead?

Agreed, agreed and id really rather not wait yet another season to see these mistakes fixed.

Yeah. I have issues with desync much much more in Descent than in normal play.
Died 2x to desync in this descent race. Within 20 min.

This shit just isn't worth it.

GGG, PEOPLE DONT LIKE DESYNCING. SO DONT MAKE YOUR SIGNATURE RACE EVENT ONE WHERE DESYNC IS LIKELY TO OCCUR.

Tried Descent races couple times, always die to desync (desync + 'famine' is specially painful and you can drive yourself into unrecoverable positions, specially early on).

Sucks, I find the goatmen area specially awful for this, but the overall theme is pretty bad.
Dead honest, I don't get desync more during Descent than during normal races. I mean, let's get real, Ancient Pyramid and other door-tight zones are part of normal races too, and although I'm more likely to be undergeared for the Frozen Abyss than for Caverns of Wrath, it's not like I'm never undergeared for the latter, so the threat is still there regardless.

Since I don't think there's actually a major desync difference between normal races and Descent, I think this is just another desync QQ thread.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
If it was another Desync qq thread I would be more directly bitching about Desync. And no, this cannot be compared to a normal race, where the majority of zones are outside. In descent, the majority of zones are indoors. Indoor areas are vastly more likely to cause Desync.

I'm complaining not about Desync, but the fact that the devs made their Sig event, one where Desync is more likely to occur. They could've done one called the lost forest, with the exact same principle, but it was just a forest. Less Desync prone, same idea.
I have never had Desync issues in any other game effecting gameplay like this.
Desync QQ threads are important!
Desync is the BIG BIGGER BIGGEST drawback of this game.
Desync counters the harccore system for nonmasochistic players.
Desync favours builds without high mobility(less fun)
Desync either kills your character for ever(HC) or steals your XP (SC).
Desync is a pain in the ass and everybody working for GGG should mainly adress this issue.

POE offers a lot more options of gameplay etc compared to Diablo3, but by now(and even though i will continue playing PoE for a while) i have to say that i had much more fun playing Diablo 3 until i killed Diablo in nm with my 3 favoured classes then playing Path of Desync.

I've been a big GGG supporter for a while, but between the scheduling shenanigans, patching the game in the middle of a race (really?!)while we US Easters (you DO know about us, right guys?) were trying to scratch a point or three out of a 5 pm start, and the issues with Descent chronicled in this thread Season 3 has been something of a dud. Here's hoping they take a step back, realize their player (read: customer) base is not entirely composed of hardcore gamers and produce a more user-friendly racing slate next go-round.
