Omen of Amelioration does not prevent the correct EXP loss. (Bug Report #1,316,600,534)
|
I noticed this on the first time dying and using an Omen of Amelioration. I had about 2% EXP (having very recently leveled up) and after dying, the omen was consumed, but then I had exactly 0%. This means that The Omen of Amelioration was consumed and prevented no EXP loss.
(The game only ever says 0% if it is exactly zero; if you have even a single point above the minimum for that level, it instead says "<1%." And indeed, I had 3,111,280,300 EXP, the exact minimum for level 96) The description of the Omen of Amelioration is "Prevent 75% of Experience Loss when you die." Since loss cannot exceed how much you've acquired beyond the minimum, those with less than 10% EXP should see a post-omen less of less than 2.5%. Were that the correct behavior instead, the proper wording should be "EXP loss on death is 2.5% instead of 10%." It's worth noting that in Path of Exile 1, it does reflect this: an Omen of Amelioration there makes it effectively impossible to ever get your EXP progress ever reset to 0%, as once you are at/below 10%, each death will instead only remove 25% of your current EXP progress. The disparity here is likely an order of operations mistake: in PoE 1, it calculates how much EXP it will attempt to remove (and thus applies the cap of "cannot exceed what you have" at this point) and then reduces it by 75%. Meanwhile in PoE 2, it appears that it just takes the flat 10%, reduces it by 75% (to 2.5%) and then subtracts it whether or not that actually reflects the correct amount.
