The hardest part of PoE2 shouldn’t be managing loot in my hideout
|
I like difficult games. I seek them out. I’m fine failing 100 times before I succeed. What I have zero patience for is touching the same loot over and over again.
Right now, everything I pick up gets dumped into a small inventory bucket, and when I get back to town or my hideout I’m forced to touch almost every item again. I have to read every item, figure out what can be disenchanted, what can be salvaged, what should be sold, what has quality, what has sockets, and what won’t auto-sort into any stash tab. Every pile of low-value gear turns into a tiny flowchart:
This is exhausting, and it’s the exact kind of thing that made me stop playing over a year ago even after putting around 600 hours into the game. I’m enjoying PoE2 again right now, but this loot cleanup loop is the sole reason I’m already thinking about switching back to D4’s PTR tonight. Not because I think D4 is a better game overall, but because D4 doesn’t make me spend brainpower on low-value decisions. Gear is salvageable, materials go where they belong, and most of what I pick up gets handled automatically so I only have to think about it when I actually need it. PoE2 has added stash affinities for a lot of things, which is good, but the missing exceptions still make the whole system feel clunky. Salvaging and disenchanting also feel like they should be one system. Once I decide an item is not worth keeping, the question should simply be: do I sell it, or break it down for materials? The fix seems simple:
These changes would make the game stronger and cut out unnecessary noise. Friction is good when it comes to combat and decision-making around meaningful events. It is not good when it turns basic loot cleanup into busywork. That’s it. Last bumped on Jun 2, 2026, 11:37:26 PM
