Unplayable on Xbox

I am having severe and frustrating problem for last 3 months and even though it is simple in its core, its unpredictability is mind boggling.

Long story short - I am experiencing extreme lag spikes/screen freezes, sometimes even 30s long. These occur mainly on late afternoons/evenings, but other times are not completely ruled out as well. I believe it is not network related.

Long story long - It started sometime in March in fully juiced Vaal temple and it continued through most of the 0.4 patch. While it might seem like a hardware issue, since the fan of xbox is screaming like a banshee, this often happens right after logging in, when CPU is well rested. Only in the last 2 weeks of the league it almost completely vanished, but by then I switched my attention to campaign runs. In 0.5 I was fine for first 2 days, since then every evening I cant do anything reasonable ingame.

However, there are very strange and not so isolated cases. Sometimes it ramps up - the lag starts gently, sometimes vanishes completely when changing location, then it might be horrible, then fine again, every change of instance can change the behavior. When it gets really bad, it usually stays bad no matter the instance. Today I tried switching to laptop just to test things. Laptop was on hotspot, in hideout I was completely fine, so I switched xbox to the hotspot. Again, in hideout fine, but as soon as I opened a map, unplayable again. Switching back to laptop did not help, the map was unplayable.

I know others have problems on xbox too, but they usually describe them as microfreezes and texture display problems, this is anything but microfreeze. Maybe I should stop playing freeze CoEA Stormweaver? I would even consider buying a PC, just for PoE, but I'm quite afraid that its throwing money from window, since I dont understand the core of the issue.
