Melee is shooting caster. No swords, axes and daggers because archetypes are dead.

Notice how melee is currently just a shooting caster. There’s no physical contact with the mobs. You’re just spamming AOE skills, whirlwinds, lightning, or full-screen circles. You don't feel the impact of a physical melee hit. In PoE1, you have to unleash the skill right on the mob, so you actually have to get close and hit them. And that’s why there are no axes, swords, or daggers in PoE2. They don't know how to implement them because the characters feel like they have concrete boots. Even the Monk with a staff is casting some nonsense around himself like some kind of mage caster, and I don’t like magic – I just like to feel the weight and force of the impact. Pretty soon they'll add grenade launchers... wait... the grenade launcher is already there. So rocket launchers will be next. Why should we even hit mobs when we can just shoot them? Shoot with a shield, shoot with a mace... so we'll probably have to shoot with swords and axes next. PoE2 is dead to me because it murders archetypes and kills all satisfaction. Herald of Thunder already annoyed me back when it cleared entire screens for me, and now even melee weapons are casting some screen-wide whirlwinds or those disc things... it's a parody. The issue with the lack of balance and concrete boots is being solved by shooting and casting AOE. This game is heading in the wrong direction, but that’s just my subjective opinion. What do you guys think?

It's not that they are dead, they are not even created yet, that's totally different, remember you're playing an early access game. Also...the Huntress is a melee/range hybrid so not a good example.
