POE2 Bug: Eldritch Empowerment

When I allocate Eldritch Empowerment ascendancy skill while playing with contagion/all chaos DOT + DE totems build my energy shield drops sometimes instantly from 8000 to 0 - as it is stated in game it should remove 5% per cast. I tried with different support gems to fix the issue but problem still persists. Can someone confirm if there is problem with this skill or this is just my case?

Also playing essence drain, contagion, and dark effigy as Lich with Eldrich Empowerment allocated. My energy shield will occasionally drain to zero despite not taking damage (as far as I can tell). My energy shield recharge is still occurring during this and I can see a small amount of ES constantly bouncing up from 0 before draining again.

FIgured out that the issue is with Despair + Decaying Hex... For some reason, Decaying Hex makes despair counts as multiple damaging spells being cast at once, instead of one.

Removing it makes this issue stop, but it is indeed a bugged interaction
